Flood
A dialogue and a shared idea of the two artists Tamar Nissim and Chaya Shilo are the basis of this work. The personal coping with sensitive areas, exposure of wounds and memories lead to understanding and healing during the creation process.
Flooding of noise, chaos of sounds and flooding of experiences and information caused disorder, blurring of reality and unraveling and rearranging this reality again and again. Images of threads screen the gallery's window as a direct expression of mental occurrences on the one hand and camouflage of difficult inner processes on the other hand. The concealment represents contents and meanings of inner worlds. The special positioning conceals and camouflages the tormented inner truth. Filling the whole window space creates a feeling of fear of emptiness. Nevertheless, the gaps create spaciousness and an understanding of the model and its complexity. Tamar and Chaya examined together the feelings that the wound and the hurt created chaos and noise while exposing themselves to each other, examining the similar and the different aspects between them while doing their work. The work that reflected the internal processes was used in this case as a tool for mending broken pieces and also as an expression of strength and power when overcoming difficulties.
Layers of material show feelings, thoughts, sensations, that are meant to conceal/distance/separate them from inner worlds. Tamar and Chaya's working together became a new whole that formulated a new order and brought some kind of amendment.
Visual representations of plastic threads fill and flood the space of the gallery window. The inner chaos is expressed by an entanglement of colorful threads and lines that mix with one another and create a colorful maze. A dreamy and imaginary environment is created by compositions of plastic materials that threaten to flood the whole gallery. The installation overflows, pushing and shoving its boundaries while creating itself within itself.
A material is discharged from the chaos that continues to flow endlessly. The flow emanating from the machine is revealed to us through a video screen in the window. The machine resembles a feminine containing body. It seems as if the non-regulative flow creates endless new life.
